This week I finally received Federico Albanese’s long-awaited “The Houseboat and The Moon" and ever since I’ve heard "Carousel #3”, it became sure that there’s a slightly big chance for loving the whole album. After getting another piece through the latest Denovali sampler with “Queen and Wonder”, I was dying to hear everything finally. The CD arrived on Tuesday but I was preparing for Nils Frahm’s concert so with some delay, after the gig for covering my imaginary wounds and diverting my thoughts I finally started listening to this masterpiece. Because it is. It cannot deny some similarities to Ludovico Einaudi but Federico has simplier and shorter sound visions in his mind, also enchanting melodies. Sometimes the piano gets some help from strings or effects but all in all, keys are leading everything. “Queen and Wonder” is kind of an odd-one-out with those effects but it’s a tricky one and this album cannot be imagined after that. I am seriously enjoying all the piano noises and the sometimes ambient-ish but rather modern classical world of “The Houseboat and The Moon”. And this is surely such a record that a future boyfriend has to accept and be able to sit and listen to it with me whenever I feel like.
